Project: Moure Insurance Website
Role: Web Designer, UX Designer
Duration: Jan 2023 (3 weeks)
Website for a commercial insurance agent in Coconut Grove.
Project Vision
When the client came to me he was concerned with having a lack of ADA (American with Disabilities ACT) features on the website. He came to me to refresh his site to create a simple information site as well as add new features for those who have disabilities.
Challenges
1. Create a new website with simple information for users to peruse.
2. Add features that would help users with disabilities interact with the website easier.
3. Design a page that emphasizes his business with Coconut Grove.
Kickoff
In this project, I took a goal-direct approach as to not lose focus on the purpose of the project. I asked myself a few questions. Using these question helped me start my designs as well as inform me as to what I should be asking during research.
“What is the product and who is it for?”
“What do our primary users need most?
“How do we implement features for those with disabilities and what should those features be?”

Competitive Analysis
WeInsure, a larger company with smaller insurance agents, poses significant competition due to its extensive resources and reach. WeInsure’s size allows it to invest in cutting-edge technology and marketing strategies, giving them a competitive edge in terms of online presence and customer outreach. However, Moure Insurance recognizes the potential advantages of being a smaller, more personalized agency and is determined to leverage its local expertise and close client relationships to provide a tailored and attentive service that may surpass what larger firms like WeInsure can offer.
Presidential Insurance Services Inc., an older company in the local insurance landscape, presents a different challenge. While their longevity in the industry suggests experience and reliability, their outdated website could be a potential weakness.
Moure Insurance understands the importance of a strong online presence in today’s digital age and sees an opportunity to capitalize on Presidential Insurance Services Inc.’s lack of a modern web platform. By investing in a user-friendly and visually appealing website, Moure Insurance aims to attract tech-savvy customers and offer an accessible platform for clients to access information and services. This strategic move positions Moure Insurance to bridge the gap between the traditional values of established firms like Presidential Insurance Services Inc. and the modern convenience expected by today’s insurance customers.
Iteration
After speaking over the options with the client we came into agreement about what possible features would be best to implement. I did this by asking what type of features we could add.
Users with a visual disability need contrast to help them clearly see the design or text of the website.
The size of the type should change size for those who can’t see very clearly.
Having a “Skip to content” section helps users who use screen readers. That way the navigation won’t occupy so much of their screen as first glance.
ADA – Feature
Increase size of text: By having a button always available on the site to change the size of the text, this will help users with the inability to read small text.

Contrast: By having a button always available on the site to change the contrast of the text, this will help users with the inability to discern between low contrast text and background.

Integrate accessibility features designed to enhance the user experience for individuals with disabilities. By optimizing contrast ratios and employing larger text, the website becomes more inclusive and user-friendly for this audience.
Create a dedicated webpage that accentuates the synergy between the business and the Coconut Grove locality. A specialized page dedicated to this geographic sector will highlight the depth of expertise garnered within this specific area, fostering a connection with the core demographic of Coconut Grove, and instilling a sense that their unique needs are catered to.
Style Guide
Using green to represent the trees themselves felt necessary. Different shades of green can be used through the app. As well as scenic art background depending on what the tree of the season is.
Takeaways
This being one of the projects I worked with ADA type features made it great learning experience in terms of understanding what those with disabilities need in terms of features. I really felt like there is even more to explore when it comes to those with disabilities and new innovations to help them when it comes to UX.
